English version of the song from the film performed by Ivri Lider.

Keith and I watched Yossi & Jagger the other night – we loved it! This film is available from Netflix and is subtitled in English. Yossi & Jagger is based on a true story of two Israeli military officers who are in love, trying to elude both death and detection in the Israel military.

Director Eytan Fox's naturalistic touch, and ability to highlight the expansiveness of mature love even in the most tragic and ironic of circumstances, is something to marvel at. The film makes good use by perverting its own clichés with its characterizations and a predictable, sentimental story. The surprise is a truly touching portrait of youth on the front lines. In war some lose their limbs, some their minds and others their loves, only to be reborn. Yossi and Jagger doesn't wallow in it: it's fast moving; there's no time for preaching. Not until the film is over will you really start to consider its realities.

The pressures and privations of military life have rarely been portrayed in as much telling detail as they are in "Yossi and Jagger", Eytan Fox's compact (71 minute), touching portrait of a group of bored Israeli soldiers stationed at a cramped army base on the Israeli Lebanese border. The area they're patrolling is a rutted, snow covered no man's land that appears almost completely lifeless until the moment that enemy firepower explodes out of nowhere.

In the opening scene the soldiers, clutching handkerchiefs to their noses, bury a stinking cache of meat that has rotted since their last visit to the area. When away from the base, they subsist on a combination of beef jerky and chocolate.

Amid this desolation, love has flowered between two young commanders, Yossi (Ohad Knoller) and Jagger (Yehuda Levi), who are carrying on a passionate but discreet affair. Although the other soldiers refer to them as a couple, they view the bond between the men, who are both well liked, as nothing more than a special friendship. When the lovers need time alone, they steal away on a bogus lookout mission and make love in the snow, observed only by rabbits.

The affair is not without its tensions. Yossi, the more macho and closeted, is not entirely comfortable with his sexuality and disapproves of his partner's fondness for ''diva music'' and other non manly tastes. The handsomer, more free spirited and playful Jagger is a shameless coquette who pressures Yossi to consider leaving the army and living with him. Emotionally needy, Jagger petulantly hounds Yossi to put his love into words and deliver the Hollywood romantic fantasy he craves.

When two attractive female soldiers, Goldie (Hani Furstenberg) and Yaeli (Aya Koren), arrive at the base, the suppressed sexual tensions among the soldiers intensify, and you worry that the lovers will be found out and disgraced. For the blond, sexually aggressive Goldie, the visits offer a welcome opportunity for hot, recreational sex. The dark haired, moony eyed Yaeli is a romantic who nurtures schoolgirl fantasies of a Champagne and roses affair with Jagger, whom she recognizes as special because of his sensitivity.

Even after her forlorn inquiries about Jagger's tastes in women elicit discouraging responses, Yaeli refuses to give up her dream. One soldier, Ofir (Assi Cohen), pines for her. When she rebuffs him, he focuses his resentment on Jagger.

If the situation has all the ingredients of a shrill, tearful melodrama, the filmmaker, working from a taut screenplay by Avner Bernheimer that doesn't waste a word or a gesture, keeps the emotional lid firmly in place. And this restraint lends the psychological undercurrents among the characters a resonance they would not otherwise have.

Each of the soldiers, from the playful cook, Yaniv (Erez Kahana), to a tough, war mongering colonel (Sharon Regniano), who pays a surprise visit, is incisively drawn. And the performances of Mr. Knoller and Mr. Levi (a leading Israeli soap opera star) distill the emotional chemistry of their precarious relationship.

"Yossi and Jagger" may be a gay love story. But the movie, which ends with a wallop, is an unusually subtle and convincing study of group psychology and fluctuating morale among professionals under stress in close quarters.

Scare away the fog

And let the sky be clear

Let's stand in light

The shadow's full of fear

You cannot just hide forever

You'll break

You're not that clever

Just try for once

Not holding back your love

When deep inside

Your soul is crying out

Come share with me

All your deepest secrets

Together you and me

Making love so simple

When the wind blows all your fears away

Love makes the flowers grow

Red and green and gold like rays of sun

Give me your soul

I won't let go (x2)

Scare away the clouds

And let the sky be clear

Let's stand in light

The shadow's full of fear

You cannot just hide forever

'Cos you'll break

You're not that clever

Just try for once

To set your feelings free

Just you and me

It's all that we should be

Don't run away

With your deepest secrets

Together you and me

Making love so different

When the wind blows all your fears away

Love makes the flowers grow

Red and green and gold like rays of sun

Give me your soul

I won't let go (x2)

So come and share with me

All your deepest secrets

Together you and me

Making love so different

When the wind blows all your fears away

Love makes the flowers grow

Red and green and gold like rays of sun

Give me your soul

I won't let go

You know I'll never go

Sgt. Espera's insights about the white man and life from Generation Kill. "People have been fightin' over this bitch (Iraq Kuwait) since ancient times, Dog. How many graves we standing on? Think about all the wisdom and science and money and civilization it took to build these machines; and the courage of all the men who came here; and the love of their wives and children that was in their hearts. And all that hate, Dog. All the hate it took to blow these mother fuckers away. It's destiny, Dog - white man's gotta rule the world ..... How come we can't ever invade a cool country, with like chicks in bikinis, you know? How come countries like that don't ever need marines? I'll tell you why. It's lack of pussy that fucks countries up. Lack of pussy is the root fucking cause of all global instability. If Saddam invested in the pussy infrastructure of Iraq than he did on his fuckin' gay ass army, then this country would be no more fucked up than, say, Mexico.” Generation Kill is a 2008 HBO miniseries based on the book of the same name by Evan Wright. The series follows a Rolling Stone reporter, embedded with The 1st Recon Marines, as he chronicles his experiences during the first wave of the American led assault on Baghdad in 2003. There are a total of 7 episodes on 3 disks. This series is available from NetFlix and well worth watching!

Spike's parody of a famous U.S. patriotic song. Especially a parody of George M. Cohan Broadway musical about Yankee Doodle. In 1942 there was filmed a biography about George (who died a few months later), with James Cagney in a main role. James was fantastic! Maybe he sang with a little false, but his dancing was amazing. Here we have a Spike's parody with funny instruments and Billy who sings Yankee Doodle Dandy with a bigger false than James - Great fun!

It is an honor to provide such a gem to the wide spectrum of the Floyd community!

The entire 24 minute ending scene from 2001: A Space Oddyssey synced to the Pink Floyd song 'Echoes'. I couldn't find a full version of this scene on youtube, so I decided to put it up. I don't own the rights to this stuff and all that jazz. Be warned that this is the final scene of the movie, so don't watch if you haven't seen the movie already and don't want the ending spoiled.

One rumor I've heard behind this is that Floyd had done a soundtrack in the past for an Italian film that was considered such a disaster for a variety of reasons that they swore not to do another. So they denied Kubrick when approached to score it and immediately regretted it upon viewing of †he film. The rumor is they recorded Echoes on the Meddle album to score with the last section of 2001, which it clearly does.

Prepare yourself for a fantastical journey. Right now this is the temporary version, we have more scenes to cut, and edit, however with guys always on...

Prepare yourself for a fantastical journey. Right now this is the temporary version, we have more scenes to cut, and edit, however with guys always on mission it is harder to film than you think. "This is a couple guys located in afghanistan, that re-made the music video by Lady Gaga....Telephone. Quoted from the guys who made this. ------------------ Dingo sez: "They’re afraid gays are bad for morale in the military." ---------------- You expect homages to pop sensation Lady Gaga from the cast of the Fox prime-time TV hit "Glee." It's something else, though, when American soldiers deployed in Afghanistan take to YouTube for a lip synched rendition of the video for the Gaga anthem "Telephone." Members of the 82nd Airborne Division posted the video last week, and it went viral, logging more than 3.3 million views on YouTube to date. As The Smoking Gun pronounced in presenting the video's remarkable backstory, it's almost certainly "the most entertaining music video homage ever shot in a war zone." It's a largely faithful version of the controversial "Telephone" video — with, of course, certain allowances for improvised props, since it's hard to rustle up full spandex costumes in the desert wilds of Afghanistan's Farah province. As The Smoking Gun reports, the project was the brainchild of Aaron Melcher, a 24-year-old soldier from North Carolina. He enlisted fellow soldiers Kenneth Eichler, James Conley, Kory Roberts, Mike Castor, and Joshua Pilon to make up the ensemble of dancers and lip-synchers. When the finished product was in hand, Melcher embedded the video on his Facebook page. There, he described his handiwork as "the hotness" and urged his Facebook pals to "share it with the world." And boy, did they ever. Melcher told the Smoking Gun that the video has "blown up way more" than the size of original target audience — a "couple of our friends and family." But Melcher also stressed that he and his friends aren't about to take the show on the road. "Nobody in the video would like any further media coverage," he said.

Since their first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday in 1979, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence have used the power of parody to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency, and guilt. Today, The Sisters are a global collective of queer performance artists devoted to promoting human rights, respect for diversity, and spiritual enlightenment. An Order of many faiths and spiritual beliefs, The Sisters are unified by an irreverent wit and a dedication to promulgating universal joy.

A talk by sister Unity Divine, Bootysattva, on the Two Spirit or berdache, the traditional role of the cross gendered, gay, male shaman or spiritual functionary found in many early civilisations. Homosexuality goes deper and much further than sexuality as evidenced by historical sociology. There is evidence of a "gay" presence in the structure of nature.

Sources include:
The writings and talks with Harry Hay
"The Other Face of Love" (c)1964
"Gay Spirit" (c) Mark Thompson
